FAQ / PAINT PROTECTION FILMS

  • What is a Paint Protection Film?

A paint protection film is a clear polyurethane film with a thickness of 8 millimeters that is usually installed on the surface of the cover to offer protection from stains, swirls, dents and scratches that are often caused by bug droppings, debris, rocks and environmental elements. Once installed the paint protection film is virtually invisible and it does not usually alter the design or color of your car.

  • Why Should I Install a Paint Protection Film on My Vehicle?

Your car is a huge investment. As such, you should take all the necessary measures to keep it in mint condition. The best way to do this is to install a high-quality paint protection film from a reputable company.

  • What Procedure Will Be Followed When Installing a Paint Protection Film on My Car?

On choosing to get this film installed, a plotter will first use XPELS Design Access Program (DAP) Software to map and cut the paint protection film according to your car design pattern. We usually use this software to ensure that our customers receive the best and most precise paint protection films for their vehicles. After cutting the film to fit the exact design of your car we usually then install it on the vehicle using the adhesive on the paint protection film and an alcohol-based solution. The entire installation process is usually done with precision to ensure that your vehicle gets the best protection possible.

  • Where Can I Install a Paint Protection on My Car?

A paint protection film can be installed on any surface on your car that is vulnerable to damage so as to protect the vehicle from chips, scratches, stains and any other conceivable damage that can come from environmental elements. For example:

    • You can use this film to protect your bumpers, mirror backs and hood from flying debris such as tar, gravel and bug acids
    • You can use a paint protection film to protect the car rocker panels from debris and small stones that are kicked up tires when driving
    • You can protect door edges and door handle cups from scratches that can be caused by keys, purses, belt buckles and rings
    • You can protect your car roof, full hood and trunk from stains caused by tree sap and bird droppings
  • How Can I Care for The Paint Protection Film Once It Is Installed on My Car?

It is very easy to keep your paint protection film in good condition. Some of the steps you can take to keep your film in good condition include:

    • After the paint protection film has been installed on your car, wait at least one week before waxing or washing your vehicle so as to give time for the film to stick properly on your vehicle.
    • When waxing your vehicle, avoid products that contain rubbing compounds, dyes and abrasive polishes.
    • After waxing your car, remove any wax that may have accumulated along the edges of the paint protection film using a lint-free cloth
  • Can the Paint Protection Film Be Removed from My Car After Installation?

Yes. A paint protection film is usually installed with a patented adhesive that allows for its removal without any damage to the paint on your car.

  • Will My Vehicle Have a Different Appearance Once I Remove the Film?

A paint protection film does not affect the rate of paint fading. This means that even if you just cover some parts with this film and then remove it, there will be no difference in the appearance of your car.
