Why Should You Hire A Professional?

You might be tempted to use a DIY kit to tint your car windows, but the benefits of hiring a Greenville vehicle tinting professional at iTint are far greater than any savings that you might enjoy.

Tinting the windows of your car is an excellent way to enhance privacy as well as reduce heat
and glare.

Consumers usually have two options when it comes to tinting car windows: Hiring a professional to do it or to do it themselves using a DIY window tinting kit. A DIY window tint
might be cheaper, but it pays dividends to do a professional installation.

Here are 4 good reasons why you should consider hiring a professional to do your window tinting in upstate South Carolina:

Dark windows are often a safety concern for law enforcement officers when making traffic stops, which is why many states and cities have specific limits regarding how dark window tint can be.

At iTint, we always makes it a point to keep ourselves updated on window tint regulations. Some of the shops might offer tint that’s darker than legal, but we always ensure that our customers stay on the right side of the law. With DIY kits, you can never have such an
assurance.

Unless you buy a professional-grade tint that’s more expensive, you will probably find the film in a DIY window kit being temperamental and flimsy when compared to the higher quality materials used by window tinting professionals.
Window film is usually notoriously difficult to work with for a first-timer since even a slight wind or breeze can cause crinkles or creases and some people can find it difficult to prevent debris or dirt from sticking to the film.
At iTint, the experienced professionals use high-quality film and make sure that it is applied without air bubbles, crinkles, creases, or debris.

While you might apply window tint film to the windows of your vehicle successfully, you might not necessarily do it perfectly. So, you should try again, right? Not really. It is actually more difficult to remove window film than to apply it, partly due to the sticky adhesive used to apply it to the glass

DIY kits are incredibly popular since they are a great way to save money. However, low-quality window tinting film doesn’t always provide the best results for the car. For instance, one of the key reasons why car owners want their windows to be tinted is that they would like to protect the interior of their cars from cracking and fading. Low-quality or cheap window tinting, however, doesn’t always provide such protection.
Car owners can at best expect a bit of additional shade inside their cars, but they won’t protect their cars over the long run from the sun’s harmful effects. It is due to this reason why you should consider investing a bit more into either a mid-grade or high-grade window tint that’s installed by an iTint professional.

FAQ / Car Window Tint

The time it takes to tint will vary depending on the vehicle you have. Tinting a complete car can take between 2 and 4 hours. If you have a full-size truck, it can take between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes. If you are only tinting the front doors, it will be much faster taking only 30 to 45 minutes. If you have any aftermarket film on the windows, this will need to be removed and generally adds 30 minutes to half a day to the time needed.

It is recommended that your windows remain closed for at least 24 hours after they have been tinted. This gives the tinting film enough time to cure and adhere to the glass. Moving the window before this time can cause problems with the film.

In many cases, this is possible. However, it does depend on the age of the film and if a color-stable film was used. The technician will be able to provide further information regarding this.

When turning the defroster on, the film will not be affected. Additionally, the defroster will not suffer from the film.

Reputable companies will only install window films in their facilities which are clean and air-conditioned. This allows them complete control over the environment and know how the film will react. Taking your car to the facility will provide you with the best job.

Legal limits are specified in the percentage of visible light that enters the car through the windows known as VLT or Visible Light Transmission. In South Carolina, the percentage is very specific, but differs for SUVs, cars, and vans.
For a sedan, on non-reflective tint is allows above the AS-1 line for the windshield. The front side windows have to allow more than 27% of light in which is the same for the rear side windows. The rear window also has to allow more than 27% of light into the vehicle.
For SUVs and vans, a non-reflective tint above the AS-1 line on the windshield is allowed. The front side windows have to allow 27% of light in, but the rear side windows have no restriction several inches from the top of the window. The rear window will allow any darkness to be used.

It is possible to do this as the window film will adhere to the glass. Factory tints will change the color of the glass itself.

Aftermarket films provide better solar benefits that the factory tint. Factory tints only partially reject UV rays and a small amount of heat. The films will reject 99% of UV rays and between 30% and 60% of heat. This will depend on the level of film used. These benefits are important, but darkening factory tints also gives you more privacy.

No, this film can only be applied to glass. The glass should also have a smooth finish for the best results. Plexiglas, plastic and Lexan have too much oil in them for the film to adhere for long periods.

FAQ / Paint Protection Films

A paint protection film is a clear polyurethane film with a thickness of 8 millimeters that is usually installed on the surface of the cover to offer protection from stains, swirls, dents and scratches that are often caused by bug droppings, debris, rocks and environmental elements. Once installed the paint protection film is virtually invisible and it does not usually alter the design or color of your car.

Your car is a huge investment. As such, you should take all the necessary measures to keep it in mint condition. The best way to do this is to install a high-quality paint protection film from a reputable company.

On choosing to get this film installed, a plotter will first use XPELS Design Access Program (DAP) Software to map and cut the paint protection film according to your car design pattern. We usually use this software to ensure that our customers receive the best and most precise paint protection films for their vehicles. After cutting the film to fit the exact design of your car we usually then install it on the vehicle using the adhesive on the paint protection film and an alcohol-based solution. The entire installation process is usually done with precision to ensure that your vehicle gets the best protection possible.

A paint protection film can be installed on any surface on your car that is vulnerable to damage so as to protect the vehicle from chips, scratches, stains and any other conceivable damage that can come from environmental elements. For example:

  • You can use this film to protect your bumpers, mirror backs and hood from flying debris such as tar, gravel and bug acids
  • You can use a paint protection film to protect the car rocker panels from debris and small stones that are kicked up tires when driving
  • You can protect door edges and door handle cups from scratches that can be caused by keys, purses, belt buckles and rings
  • You can protect your car roof, full hood and trunk from stains caused by tree sap and bird droppings

It is very easy to keep your paint protection film in good condition. Some of the steps you can take to keep your film in good condition include:

  • After the paint protection film has been installed on your car, wait at least one week before waxing or washing your vehicle so as to give time for the film to stick properly on your vehicle.
  • When waxing your vehicle, avoid products that contain rubbing compounds, dyes and abrasive polishes.
  • After waxing your car, remove any wax that may have accumulated along the edges of the paint protection film using a lint-free cloth

Yes. A paint protection film is usually installed with a patented adhesive that allows for its removal without any damage to the paint on your car.

A paint protection film does not affect the rate of paint fading. This means that even if you just cover some parts with this film and then remove it, there will be no difference in the appearance of your car.
